PHOTO ESSAY: Fish River Canyon, Namibia

After just a few days on the road of my African adventure, we had already left South Africa and headed into the gorgeous Namibia and we ran straight for the hills; well, canyon anyway; Fish River Canyon to be exact.  Did you know that it’s the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon?  Nope, me neither.  Consider yourself told! (I should get points for how many times I just mentioned the word canyon! Oh! There I go again! haha)

So without further ado, let me introduce you to the canyon (see, there’s that word again!)…

Fish River Canyon

Yes, you can hike the canyon!

Oh, did I forget you mention that you can hike the canyon in winter?  Yep, if you’re a complete psycho hiking fanatic you can hike for five days carrying EVERYTHING through this amazing landscape!  You start at Hobas Campsite and finish approximately 5 days later (if you haven’t killed each other yet) at Ai-Ais Resort.  It’s extremely hard going and, as I said, you have to carry everything yourself including enough water so it should be something well-researched.

For everyone who is normal else here’s Fish River Canyon:
