The next generation of inspiration in 1 minute

A few years back, everyone got introduced to Matt and his incredibly drunk-looking (but stone cold sober) dancing with ‘Where the hell is Matt?’

Let me introduce you to the new generation:
5 days ago an unknown, independent film maker by the time of Rick Mereki from Australia uploaded a video to Vimeo that went VIRAL!  In under a week he has had well over 4 MILLION views and will surely go down in history as one of the most talked about travel videos ever made.

Commissioned by STA Travel Australia and featuring one of the hottest Aussies you will ever see in your life (Andrew Lees) with help from a fantastic producer, you can’t help but to enjoy them…

“3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films…..

= a trip of a lifetime.”

When I watched MOVE I cried, just like I did when I first watched Where the Hell is Matt – a true inspiration for anyone that needs a lift.

You’ll also be pleased to know that because of the amazing success of his videos, Rick is now on Twitter – expect more greatness!

This MOVE video has gone crazy and I agree its a beautiful video and I love it!

BUT (and its a big but) for me Matt’s original video is so much better.

Matt was just a guy with a shaky camera that made an incredible film from a simple idea all by himself. Yes he did follow ups that were commissioned but the original was all very amateur.

MOVE is a great film and it is shot very professionally and amazingly but it had a budget which seems to me to make Matt’s video even more special 😀

  2. Lauren – they are truly stunning! It helps that one of my favourite actors was in them too – he was one HOT guy =D hubba hubba =D

  3. Jennifer – my jaw literally dropped when watching them, especially MOVE!

  4. Tom – Oh I definitely agree that Matt’s original video is more special because he basically took over the world with a shaky video but I love both his and MOVE for totally different reasons. I love Matt’s because of his originality and anything after is only ever going to be imitation but MOVE is a spectacularly shot, well thought out video and that’s why I like it.

Don’t make me choose – I love them both 😀

  5. I just showed my boyfriend these videos and he was in awe. Beautiful, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL videos!! What a fantastic job!

You dont have to choose they are both amazing videos!

Are you sure your not swayed by the fact Matt is just a normal suburban American guy & the guy in MOVE is some sort of Australian superhunk ;-D lol

  7. Tom – I already watched the actor Andrew Lees in a programme anyway but yes, he is SUPER HOT. Maybe Rick Mereki should create a new video with me and Andy – 60 positions in 60 minutes reduced to 1minute – HEAVEN! =D

  8. Sheryll – Johnny has taste =) MOVE is, without a doubt, one of my favourite videos of all time =D

  9. These are really good!! Of course I love the food one O:-)

I met Matt a few years ago participating in his 2008 video. Whenever I watch it, I tend to get a little misty. How cool that he brought all of those people together. Love his snark.

  10. Heather – now how did I know you would like the EAT video?! haha. You met Matt? Wooo! Definitely; bringing people together is what his videos are all about =)I have to admit that I get misty eyed watching both his and this new MOVE video – incredibly moving =)
